With our holiday open house approaching on November 16th, 2012, I would like to introduce Marcy Kennedy with Sweet Pea Designs. Marcy not only is a floral designer at Amore Fiori, but she also creates beautiful unique jewelry in her spare time- which is not a lot since she has two little ones – who are her other “Sweet Peas”.
“I am an artist in many ways. I have been a floral designer for 16 years and enjoy being creative. I love many mediums of art, but most of all I love the creativeness of mixed media and found art, whether it’s in my jewelry design or other pieces I make. I frequent flea markets, antique stores, thrift stores, etc. anywhere that has items with character, age, and a story. I wish sometimes the items I find could talk and tell me their story.
“Sweet Pea” my 51 Chevy pickup, was my inspiration not only for my business name, but is a daily inspiration for me. She is a great example of an item I wish could talk. When I drive her I am transported back to childhood summers spent at my grandparents’ house in the midwest. Whether I was painting in their ceramic shop or rummaging for treasures in their attic, I knew I wanted to create.
I hope when you see my creations you are inspired by the past and that you are in your own way inspired to create.”
We are excited to feature Sweet Pea’s jewelry and holiday ornaments at our open house. Here’s a peek!
