I don’t know about you but we are ready to put those boots away and get ready for spring! This season’s flowers are ready too – Blooming branches, tulips, daffodils and hyacinth are making there way into the store – giving us the sense that spring is here!
Take a look a what is available now and call your local florist to scoop them up! You’ll get energy boost just from the sigght of the them and their fragrance will have you smiling from ear to ear!
Tulips – Available in just about every color under the sun! Tulips are phototropic ( curve toward the sun) and also their stems often elongate an inch or more after they’re arranged. This sometimes can be challenging when designing.
Taking care of these lovely cut flowers is easy and just involves these four steps:
- Snip end of stems
- Fresh Cold Water
- Place in clean container
- Repeat every few days
Daffodils – These cuties are the first sign that spring is on its way.
Just remember –Daffodils give off a sap that can be harmful to other flowers. So arrange them with other daffodils only. If you would like to include them in a mixed flower arrangement, let the daffodils stems soak overnight in cool water to release the sap and then arrange with other flowers in fresh water the next day.
Hyacinth – Super fragrant and long lasting! If you can keep the bulb intact, this will prolong the vase life of these mighties!
Keep in mind that when their stems are cut, they also release sap that can shorten the life of other flowers. you can prent this by cutting their stems and placing them in water for at least 12 hours on their own before arranging them them with other flowers
Check with your local florist and see what they have in store!
